It has been another long glorious summer in Italy with some more great tours in this beautiful land. Two more of our guests have celebrated their fifth tour with us - Carolyn Smith and Priscilla Campbell-Allen - and the trips for 2014 are already filling up! All is well in the world of Hedonistic Hiking and we hope it is for you too.
If you are thinking of travelling with us in 2014 we would like to draw your attention to our Special Offer. Anyone who makes their booking for next year before October 31st 2013 can be guaranteed the 2013 price, as published currently on the website. After that date there will be some small increases which will be updated on the website. Our brand new brochure for next year is on the presses as we publish this newsletter and you can download a copy from the home page. Please get in touch if you don't normally receive a hard copy but would like to have one.
Along with our very exciting new Italian Lakes tour for Italy 2014 we have given a completely new look to our hike in the Italian Alps in July. We still start in the historic town of Bard, and finish in the stunning Gran Paradiso National Park, but inbetween we will now stay 3 nights in exquisite Courmayeur, which sits right on the border with France, at the foot of Western Europe's highest mountain Mont Blanc. We take the cable-car known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World" up to 3335m and climb to a viewing platform where you feel you can almost touch the peak of Mont Blanc. We hike a section of the Tour of Mont Blanc too and savour the simply awe-inspiring views across the Alps. All three of the hotels we stay in have luxurious spa facilities and of course we have excellent dinners in the hotels and local restaurants. Some of the days are challenging hikes but you certainly do not need any climbing skills or mountaineering experience to make the most of this wonderful new itinerary.
Don't forget too our brand new long weekends in Australia running in February, March and April. The Highlights of Mount Buffalo National Park is Friday to Monday with three hikes, some great dinners in Bright and an unforgettable sunset dinner on the horn of Mount Buffalo. Victorian Alps and Vineyards is Friday to Sunday with two hikes and some fabulous Italian cooking matched with the Italian wines which grow so successfully in the King Valley. Click on the links for full details of dates and itineraries.

News from the UK now! We ran a very successful fun half-day walk with a Tuscan-style picnic lunch in Chobham in Surrey at the beginning of August in assocation with Sunninghill Travel, our UK travel agent. 18 of us completed the 10 km walk and polished off an excellent lunch of local hams, cheeses and salads prepared by Mick and our nephew Will. If you are in the UK and would like to contact Sunninghill Travel about our tours then please call Tony Bassett on 01344 627586.
On a final note, we thought it worth mentioning that any of our tours in Italy or Australia can be booked entirely by a private group. Pricing would depend on final numbers but if you have a big family celebration coming up, or you have a bunch of friends who would like to holiday together then please get in touch and discuss the possibility of taking one of the scheduled tours on a private basis.
So, our autumn season here in Italy starts again with tours in Tuscany and Umbria. Harvest season in these regions is really something to look forward to. The vineyards are busy with pickers, the fruit trees laden with juicy figs, plums, apples and pears and the woods full of locals forraging for chestnuts and the famous funghi porcini. Where else would you possibly want to be?!
